This past month has seen a natural and sometimes abrupt end to some of my habits, my daily structures, a few projects that have been part of my life for quite some time.
Speaker A:You know, kind of around a year.
Speaker A:And honestly, I feel as though I'm in the middle of a big transformation happening in all areas of my life.
Speaker A:At times, it's shaken me, it's brought up fear.
Speaker A:And sometimes the everyday reality I'm experiencing puts me in doubt.
Speaker A:It gets me to question not just who I am, but whether the work I'm doing has value and if my dreams are even possible.
Speaker A:I have a big vision that I hold for myself, and I keep wondering, is it simply too far away from what I can see around me right now?
Speaker A:Because sometimes our dreams are in stark contrast to our everyday reality.
Speaker A:And when that happens, it can be be so easy to focus on what's not working, what hasn't arrived, and what appears to be missing, what feels like it's an age away.
Speaker A:Rather than actually living from the dream we say we're choosing.
Speaker A:So in today's episode, from my kitchen table with my coffee and my hobnobs, I'm inviting you to explore with me three ways to navigate your current reality while still choosing the dream.
Speaker A:So join me in today's episode of the Choosing Happy Podcast.
Speaker A:Hello, and welcome to today's Choosing Happy Podcast.
Speaker A:I'm Heather Masters, your host, and I'm inviting you with your coffee, your tea, or whatever beverage you have to join me on over the kitchen table.
Speaker A:Today we're exploring this question.
Speaker A:When what you want is in stark contrast to your everyday reality, how do you navigate the naysayers, the doubts, the internal voice, the practical voices, and the evidence that seems to say this is not happening yet?
Speaker A:How do we create the world we want?
Speaker A:How do we choose a new reality before it has fully shown up?
Speaker A:And how do we keep moving when everything around us appears to be saying, be realistic?
Speaker A:I think it begins with choosing knowing over the naysayers.
Speaker A:And here are three ways create a vision more powerful than your current reality.
Speaker A:Now, this first way is to create a clear vision of what you want.
Speaker A:Not a vague idea, not a passing wish, not a would be nice if this happened kind of dream.
Speaker A:I mean, a vision so clear that you feel as though you could touch it, smell it, taste it, hear it, and step inside it.
Speaker A:A vision where you're not looking at yourself from the outside, but you're actually in your body looking through your own eyes on the day when.
Speaker A:When that world is real to you.
Speaker A:World is aligned Your body recognizes it.
Speaker A:It's visceral.
Speaker A:Your nervous system knows it.
Speaker A:You feel the joy.
Speaker A:You feel the connection and the absolute rightness of it.
Speaker A:For me, visualization, or perhaps more accurately, full sensory, is imagery.
Speaker A:It's not just daydreaming.
Speaker A:It's a way of inviting the mind and the body and the spirit to experience the possibility before the outside world has caught up.
Speaker A:When we visualize using all of our senses and we allow ourselves to believe that moment is true, something powerful happen.
Speaker A:Our unconscious mind, which actually can't tell the difference between a vision and reality, begins to seek evidence.
Speaker A:It looks for opportunities, connections, and actions that support the vision.
Speaker A:It becomes, in a way, the goal getter.
Speaker A:So the invitation here is this.
Speaker A:Create a vision that is more compelling than the reality you're currently looking at.
Speaker A:Make it truly vivid.
Speaker A:Make it embody, make it anchored.
Speaker A:Let it become something you can return to when doubt arrives.
Speaker A:Because sometimes your current reality will just shout out that this isn't real.
Speaker A:It will wave receipts, it will wave bills.
Speaker A:It will say, look, here's proof that nothing's changing.
Speaker A:And that's exactly when your vision needs to shout back, no.
Speaker A:This is already becoming.
Speaker A:Now, in way two, we choose the meaning you give to your reality.
Speaker A:You become conscious of the beliefs, words, thoughts, internal dialogue, and actions that gather around your vision.
Speaker A:Because if you have a vision, there'll often be people who'll show up.
Speaker A:And sometimes the loudest people are inside your own head and who are willing to tell you that it's not possible.
Speaker A:They will probably call you a dreamer.
Speaker A:They'll say you're being wonderfully unrealistic.
Speaker A:They may tell you to be practical, to be sensible, to be real.
Speaker A:But what is realism?
Speaker A:What is reality?
Speaker A:Reality is not only what's happening around us.
Speaker A:It's what we create from what we visualize, what we believe, what we've learned from the past, and the meaning we choose to give to what is happening now and then every moment, we have that power to choose a different context, a different interpretation, a different future.
Speaker A:In fact, to choose Happy.
Speaker A:For example, last week I managed to download a virus onto my PC.
Speaker A:And you know, being a techy person, I was quite surprised I managed to do it anyway.
Speaker A:It forced me to remove everything and take the PC right back to factory settings and do a full reinstall.
Speaker A:Not a few days earlier, I'd actually said to myself that it would be really valuable that once my contract contract was ending, to rebuild my PC, rebuild my file system so I could focus clearly on the work and the projects at hand going forward, rather than wading through four years of digital chaos.
Speaker A:And there it was, the opportunity not quite in the way I had planned it.
Speaker A:And here I am rebuilding from a blank slate, a blank disk space.
Speaker A:And instead of seeing disruption, I am choosing a fresh start of rebuilding.
Speaker A:A chance to create those new structures that would work more effectively for me and for the AI executive assistance I'm building to support my work going forward.
Speaker A:That doesn't mean pretending something difficult isn't difficult.
Speaker A:It doesn't mean bypassing the frustration, the fear, or the wobble.
Speaker A:It means asking, what else could this mean?
Speaker A:What is this empowering interpretation?
Speaker A:I can choose how could this be serving the future?
Speaker A:I'm choosing that vision, that I'm choosing our beliefs around reality.
Speaker A:The words we speak from those beliefs especially, and the actions we take because of those thoughts, all come together to shape the experience, the reality we experience.
Speaker A:So if we can choose a vision, we can also choose the values, the beliefs, the words, the thoughts, the internal thoughts, and the actions that support that vision even before it appears to be real.
Speaker A:And when we take even one step towards acknowledging that new reality, something begins to shift.
Speaker A:And way three is to step into the identity of the person who already has that dream, has that goal.
Speaker A:Who are you when that vision has manifested?
Speaker A:Who are you in that perfect world you're working towards that perfect life that you want to live?
Speaker A:Who are you when you've met those goals, when you're living the life you want?
Speaker A:When you ask that question, you begin to uncover the beliefs, the values, the language of the version of you, the actions they take, the capabilities they've developed, the way they show up in the world, the environments they create around themselves and the people they interact with.
Speaker A:And if we begin to take those on now and reality starts to shift, stepping into that identity gives you an anchor.
Speaker A:It gives you a foundation.
Speaker A:It allows you to hear the voice that says, be practical or be realistic or even who do you think you are and still choose differently.
Speaker A:Because when your belief, your identity, your spirit, and your knowing are aligned with that goal, there's much less room for doubt to take over.
Speaker A:This is not about forcing certainty in a controlling way.
Speaker A:It's about cultivating certainty inside uncertainty.
Speaker A:It's about living in the knowing space, removing the negative mind chatter where we can, focusing on what we're speaking into reality and refocusing on the vision as already done, acting not just as if, but acting as is.
Speaker A:I heard a wonderful phrase the other day, doubt is having faith that things will go wrong.
Speaker A:And if that's true, then we also have a choice.
Speaker A:We can have faith that things will turn out exactly as we want them, that they'll turn out well.
Speaker A:We can have faith in the dream.
Speaker A:We can have faith in the version of us who already knows.
Speaker A:So here's this week's invitation.
Speaker A:Create a vision of something you want for your life and make it so vivid, so visceral and so real.
Speaker A:Like your body recognizes it as done, your unconscious mind knows it's done and know without doubt that it will happen.
Speaker A:In fact, allow yourself to play with the idea that it's already happened.
Speaker A:You just can't see it.
Speaker A:It's like knowing your friend has given both birth and Australia while you are here in the UK and you know the baby has been born.
Speaker A:You just haven't held the baby yet.
Speaker A:You've not seen it, but you do know that it's real.
Speaker A:And that's the kind of knowing I'm inviting you into.
Speaker A:Ask yourself, what is the vision I'm choosing?
Speaker A:What would I believe if I knew it was already done?
Speaker A:What words would I speak?
Speaker A:What values would I hold?
Speaker A:What actions would I take?
Speaker A:Who would I be?
Speaker A:And then take one step from that identity, One small true step that moves you forward.
Speaker A:Because rocking your reality does not always mean everything changes overnight.
Speaker A:Sometimes it means you choose the dream, even when the evidence is still catching up.
Speaker A:It means choosing knowing over the naysayers.
