Hello and welcome to the Choosing Happy Podcast.
Speaker A:Well, first, apologize for my absence.
Speaker A:For the last couple of weeks, I've been really busy with some coaching and I just did not find the time to record the episodes.
Speaker A:And I'd rather record a quality episode than do something in a rush.
Speaker A:So to make up for that, I am recording seven days of a coaching journey.
Speaker A:It's International Coaching Week on the Choosing Happy Podcast, and over the next seven days, I'm going to guide you through a powerful coaching journey designed to help you break free from a repeating pattern or problem that's been holding you back.
Speaker A:And yes, choose a biggie if you want to, and let's get that stuff shifted.
Speaker A:So stay tuned today and for the next seven days on the Choosing Happy Podcast.
Speaker A:Hello and welcome to the Choosing Happy Podcast and day one of the International Coaching Week.
Speaker A:And today we're focusing on awareness.
Speaker A:And I'd invite you to think of a situation or behavior, behavior that keeps repeating in your life, something you seem like you can't shift.
Speaker A:It doesn't matter what you want to do, it seems to stick.
Speaker A:And today is about identifying it.
Speaker A:Just taking a moment to close your eyes and picturing the last time this happened and just notice where you were, who else was there, and how did it make you feel.
Speaker A:I don't want you to stay there too long.
Speaker A:It's just to become aware of it and to become aware of the situation.
Speaker A:And when you look, when you're feeling into your body, just notice where it is in your body, whether you get a picture as well.
Speaker A:If you get the picture, what does it look like?
Speaker A:Is it bright?
Speaker A:Is it dark?
Speaker A:Do you get heavy feeling with it?
Speaker A:Is there a sound that you associate with it?
Speaker A:Just before that pattern happens, before you go into that repeating pattern behaviors, ask yourself, what do you believe about yourself or the world when that pattern happens?
Speaker A:And if it's a pattern that happens over time, just take a moment to notice the process, notice the strategy that you're running for yourself in terms of allowing this to happen.
Speaker A:What's the repeated thoughts?
Speaker A:What are the repeating feelings?
Speaker A:Do you spiral downwards?
Speaker A:What happens within your mind and then what happens outside?
Speaker A:Just remember the map is not the territory.
Speaker A:And what we mean by that is that your perception is just one version of reality.
Speaker A:So, for instance, example I love to use is if there's a robbery in a bank, for instance, or a big sort of event that happens in the world, three different people will possibly have three different versions and three different opinions on what happened, you know, at a football match or a rugby match that if there's a foul, there are multiple versions of what actually happened.
Speaker A:And that's why we have the the video now to show what really happened.
Speaker A:The video, if you like, is the territory.
Speaker A:The our interpretation of what happened without the video is the map.
Speaker A:And this week we're going to explore how to shift that map.
Speaker A:Write down your pattern, describe it in detail.
Speaker A:Notice how it feels in your body.
Speaker A:Notice any pictures, sounds, tastes, anything that's related to it.
Speaker A:Even when you're picturing it, does it have a frame?
Speaker A:Notice whether it's dark or light, whether the feelings are heavy, is there colour?
Speaker A:Note as much detail as possible without getting too caught up in the event.
Speaker A:And tomorrow we'll start to unravel it.
Speaker A:And I'll see you again tomorrow for reframing and changing the lens on that repeating pattern.
